We had a chat with Beck to get the inside knowledge on starting a company, being a boss and what’s next for An Organised Life.
What was the lightbulb moment for An Organised Life?
I always relied on a diary year after year to write down my important dates, lists and goals. When I moved to Sydney I wanted a diary - however I couldn’t find one that was functional yet had an element of style to compliment my monochrome and minimalistic aesthetic. I realised there was a gap in the market and this was when An Organised Life was born. From there I designed my first diary, found a printer and bookbinder, produced just 300 diaries and started on my marketing and PR Plan! They sold out in three weeks and there was no turning back after that!
What made you realise you wanted to be your own boss?
When I decided to start An Organised Life, I became so incredibly passionate about my brand and products. I have never been so passionate about anything in my life and knew I wanted to be my own boss one day and work on the brand 24/7! However, I was really realistic what my strengths and weaknesses were and that I needed to learn and gain knowledge in so many areas that were unknown to me, so I decided to grow the brand slow and steady. I was always in it for the long game. I carried on working and furthering my career which was hugely important. I gained so much knowledge and learnt so much from my job and experiences over these years too so that when I went full time on my own business I felt comfortable and confident that it was 100% the right choice.
Tell us about some of the challenges you’ve faced?
Each year has brought different challenges as we have grown. When I first started out, it was the challenge of the unknown and that everything was a 'first' now we are facing challenges of how tomanage the growth in a strategic and structured manner.
What’s next for you and your business?
We will continue to grow our products and brand presence locally and internationally and we will also be focusing on our educational content to ensure our community can feel confident to tick off their goals, organise their lives and more.
Tell us about a woman that inspires you?
Two of my besties, Sara Crampton and Eleanor Pendleton. They have been such an incredible support system over the years personally and professionally and they constantly inspire me daily with their own small businesses (theUNDONE + Gritty Pretty). Their hard work, positivity, honesty, kindness and creativity is second to none.
